Queer Hangout is a community for queer adults in Drammen. We are a volunteer organisation that meets once a month. We also have a Facebook group where people can share their own activities, such as birthday celebrations, Christmas craft sessions, walks in the woods, or breakfast on 17 May.
Accessibility matters to us. All our events are wheelchair accessible and have a quiet room where you can take a break.

New in Norway
If you are new to Norway, you are welcome at Queer Hangout. We also recommend Queer World, an organisation for LGBTIQ+ people with minority backgrounds, including immigrants. They can help you meet other queer people and find support.
If you are new to Drammen, Strømsø Knutepunkt is a good place to start. The people there can answer questions about the city, and they organise free events where you can meet new friends. You can also follow Strømsø Knutepunkt on Facebook.
What we have done
Since Queer Hangout was founded in 2022, we have organised:
Skeiv Dag
Drammen has several queer organisations, but we do not always meet because we serve different groups. Queer Hangout has organised Skeiv Dag three years in a row, inviting local queer organisations to run stalls and activities, build solidarity, and share that community with the rest of Drammen. The events have included a queer market, food, jewellery-making, and balloon animals with Abby the clown. We are grateful to Strømsø 2030 for supporting the events financially.

Days at the beach
Picnics, kubb, frisbee, music, and swimming. Queer Hangout organised a trip to the beach three years in a row.

Monthly meetings
We have had a regular monthly meeting place in Drammen since August 2022. It all started at Criollo Sjokoladebar.

Queer retro ball
During Drammen Pride 2023, we held a queer ball at Strømsø Knutepunkt, with music, a photo booth, free soft drinks and snacks, and an extravagant number of balloons.
Fundraising for gender-affirming surgery
At several markets, Queer Hangout members collected and sold second-hand clothes to raise money for gender-affirming surgery for a core member and close friend.
